“Food supply chain management in the transition to a circular economy”
As part of the envisioned transition to a circular economy, efficient use of natural resources has become more and more important across many industries. In the food industry, many waste streams and by-product flows are increasingly considered valuable resources that can be valorized as food or bio-based products to increase the efficiency and sustainability of food supply chains. For food supply chain management, this means an increased focus on valorizing all parts of agricultural raw materials and food waste streams, as well as a focus on valorizing these product flows in the best way possible. Based on several circular economy cases, this presentation will discuss the main challenges and opportunities for supply chain management in the context of the circular economy.
